How do i do the perfect front handspring?

How can I get more flexible and be able to tumble and do a back and front handspring?

  • I use to do gymnastics when I was little and I'm getting back into it, I started to stretch but I don't know what kinds of positions I should do to inhance my flexibility. I am getting into a gymnastics program soon as well but is there anyway I can practice certain steps to help being able to learn it faster or be more flexible?

  • Answer:

    Straddle, all splits, bridges.

usually at gymnastics places, you stretch before you do anything, those stretches would probably be best. But splits, lunges, and straddles are great for stretching out your legs. Make sure you stretch your back. Back bends and bridges are good for that, so is stretching with your legs in front of you, and even just touching your toes. A lot of people overlook that, but you won't have a solid front or back handspring if you can't bend your back. Stretching your wrists and ankles is important too, to take some of the pressure from landing on it, off.
