What skateboard is suitable for me?

What is a good first skateboard?

  • I'm 16 and I'm think that I want to start skateboarding, and was thinking of getting one as a christmas present. The only problem I'm having is that I don't know too much about skateboards, so I am wanting to buy one that is premade, rather than making one myself. So my question is, what brand of skateboard would you recommend as a first skateboard? I am wanting to get a normal skateboard by the way, I don't know much about different types, but I don't want to get a longboard, or any other type, just your average skateboard. I am comfortable spending over $100, although $150 would probably be the maximum amount I would spend. If you could please post examples, as well as include stores which sell good quality skateboards, that would be helpful. (I am from Adelaide)

  • Answer:

All boards are essentially the same, as long as you can skate it, you're good to go. If you really need a recommendation, You should get a plan b deck ", spitfire wheels, bones reds bearings and venture/independent/m class trucks. Or any plan b, almost, or krooked completes. Depending on where you live you can get a board from fast times, jetty surf or zumiez. Or if you're not near any of these you could go to http://m.ccs.com/?uri=promo&id=5003755&cm_sp=header-_-Skate-_-header for some great deals :)

ok first get for street get bones stf they are amazing and any board like baker, almost, plan b,celtics are ok,deathwish etc but i would recomend getting a blank deck from you local skate shop first cause theyre cheaper and second cause it will give you time to see if you will like skating before you spend to much money also make sure you get the right size board according to your shoe size. nice trucks are krux, royal, industrial, tensor, independant… etc. and just talk to ur local skateshop dude he will help you with everything you need to know. oh and btw be careful alot of spitfire wheels suck and fall apart.
