Is snowboarding like longboarding?

What longboard deck/trucks/bearings etc should I get?

  • I'm 19, 5'1" and 105 lbs. I've been snowboarding for years so when I tried longboarding it felt really natural. I was looking at a BC Eel but there were a lot of disputes about the flex on it (fat free vs boss flex) especially since I'm interested in DH. I'm also considering a Globe Prowler because of affordability and it got good review. Past that, I don't know much about wheels, trucks etc. Help?

  • Answer:

the landyatchz switch http://www.landyachtz.com/D25.cfm?PID=417 or the landyatchz wolf shark http://www.landyachtz.com/D25.cfm?PID=443 both are excellent for DH, for trucks look up bear 825s bearings anything bone Swiss is top end wheels you are gonna want orangutang stimulus or balut or anything with a high durometer 95a+ (for sliding)

If you are interested in Downhilling, then stay away from anything with flex. The last thing you want is your board bouncing like a trampoline while you are going 20+ mph. I would suggest you look at the Earthwing Supermodel. It is a stiff deck with great concave. If you are getting the Supermodel, then you'll need some Paris or Randal 180s 50 degrees. For wheels, look at some Sector 9 Race Formula Offset 78a, or some Abec11 ZigZags 80a. Both will provide great grip while downhilling. If you are interesting in topmounted boards, look at the Eastside Rocky Bomber or Landyachtz Tomahawk.
