Why are Skateboards so much louder then a Longboard?

  • Why are they if they are almost the same thing with a Longboard being well longer and such? is there anyway to get my Skateboard to be nice and quite and smoother as a longboard?

You would have to go with softer wheels. Longboards use soft wheels to be able to hold the road better and go over obstacles at higher speeds, not to mention a smoother ride. The downside of softer wheels is they are slower. To compensate for this, longboard wheels are much larger, 65mm usually the smallest. Ricta makes Clouds wheels in smaller sizes for filmers and larger sizes for longboards. You could go with old-school pool wheels, not quite as soft as typical longboard wheels, but still soft enough to dampen noise.

skateboard wheels= small and hard longboard wheels= long and soft you could try to fit bigger wheels on your skateboard but you would have to be careful with getting wheelbite
