How do I learn to play softball?

Is softball hard to play?

• i'm fourteen years old and i literally have never tried out for sports at my school. i'm not really a sports person. actually, i feel like i really suck at them. but softball sounds fun and i need to play a sport to get my PE credits for high school. like i said, i never really play sports and i feel like i'm out of shape... also, i don't really get all the rules in softball and such. basically, what i'm trying to ask is do you think i'll be able to still play? and learn how to play? and maybe tone up a bit? and could you tell me how softball works? i just don't want to embarrass myself..... and i feel like i'm kind of fat and slow. i don't know if this has anything to do with it, but i'm 5'2 and 114 lb. maybe softball will help me lose weight, too? tips, please! :D
