What longboard should I buy?

I want to buy some longboard wheels but I don't know what kind I should get.?

I'm looking for some wheels that will grip at higher speeds but will allow me to slide while maintaining control. The lowest durometer I want would be around 83a or 86a. Could someone tell me something about different strengths and weaknesses of different brands?

  Why would you want a 83a or 86a duro? Are you looking at Orangatang wheels...? Orangatang 86a Stims have a very chattery slide and will slip out on every corner, while 83a will have more grip, but the slide are still not that nice. The only good Otang duro is 80a. Orangatang formula also wears extremely fast. I have friends that have completely worn down their wheels from just carving, while I have been sliding my Sector 9 Race Formulas for months and have barely worn down the wheels a few mm. Different companies have different urethane forumlas and shapes. For example, Hesher Snowballs are 80a, but they slide very icy, while Sector 9 Race Forumla 80a slide much more buttery. Shape also matters. Snowballs have a small contact patch and very rounded edges that slide easily, while a wheel like Venom Cannibals have sharp edges and grip very well. Forumlas also different. For example, The Venom 78a formula is has a slight formula change that makes slides better than their own 82a formula. If you are looking to get a good all around wheel with good grip/slip, you should look at Abec11 Flashbacks 81a or Sector 9 Race Formula Offset 80a. Nersh Candies, Nersh Smoothies, 70mm Divines, Venom Tweakers 78a, or Seismic Bootlegs have also had good reviews.
