Why do we shake hands/kiss cheeks with other people?

  • where did this start? why do we do it? and how come in some places, people kiss cheeks instead? just curious...

    I guess to be polite. It's just used as a greeting> I prefer the asian way. Not contact what so ever. Just a simple bow.

The original practice of hand shaking in biblical times was employed by security forces in an attempt to shake free or expose a concealed weapon of any would be assassin. I can only imagine kissing of any kind is a gesture of utter friendship or endearment.
