Why do some women feel uncomfortable with men walking behind them?

i have noticed on some occasions when walking behind women that they tend to stall until i walk pass,ie going in their handbags then walk once im past.It makes me feel equally uncomfortable as i feel as though they think im a threat and im not. whats your thoughts on this guys and gals?

If a guy is walking behind you for a while, it feels like you're being stalked. If that is the case, most women usually stop and pretend to need something in their handbag or whatever, to see if the guy will walk past.

Women are not as dumb as some people think. They remember quite well in their subconscious mind the cave men who once took them at will from the front or from the back!
My brother said the exact same thing to me the other day. He's young and really tall and shadowy so I guess he looks a bit suspicious to nervous woman who probably think he's a drug addict or a mugger lol
It feels weird
or maybe they are self conscious about their asses since thats what guys look at all the time am i right?
I have reached a point in my life where when a woman acts uncomfortable around me for no appearant reason I call her out on it. And I do so because it offends me when a girl acts that way.
