Where should i move in philadelphia?
-
I am moving to Philadelphia this fall for graduate school (Chestnut Hill College). I'm a 27 year old female, and have been in Boston for the past 7 years but I grew up in New York. What I like most about my current neighborhood is I have a bus almost right outside my door, as well as two subways within walking distance. I also have a grocery store, laundromat, and pharmacy less than a 5 minute walk away. My neighborhood although 10 minutes from Fenway park is pretty quiet at night but I can get to nightlife areas within 10 minutes on the bus or train. I'm looking for a one bedroom, between 700 and 900 per month depending on what is included and any amenities (if I end up in a big building). I will eventually have a car but prefer to use public transportation for my day to day travels and leave the car for weekends. I def. don't want to be in an area where I don't feel comfortable walking around at night, but also don't want to deal with drunk undergrads at 2am. I like a diverse neighborhood but diverse can't mean crime ridden. I'd like to have a less than 30-45 minute commute to school but as I will be interning my second year I don't need to be right in Chestnut Hill (and I hear it's pricey). I'd like to be close to bars, restaurants, music venues, but don't need to live right above them, there should be restaurants in walking distance. I am looking for a more urban than suburban location, again, don't want to have to use my car to get the groceries, go to the bank, or buy toilet paper! Any suggestions are appreciated!!
