Is the "International High IQ Society" a legitimate society for people with high IQ's?

How are folks with a low IQ supposed to survive?

  • The average IQ score is 100 which means 50% of the population will score at or above the mean (100) and the other 50% will score below the mean. I am one of those (not kidding) folks who consistently scores below 100. I have a low paying job that I don't enjoy and still live with family. I have decided not to breed since my genetic traits would probably passed on to my children and they would turn out to have less of a life than I have had so far. My question is should society have a role in trying to encourage responsible breeding to weed out those who are a burden? Most people with low IQ's end up being supported by the state, somehow, or going to prison or living a life of poverty. I have been lucky to have a supporting family who realizes my limitations and still allows me to live with them at the age of 37. The US no longer has policies to put low IQ people to work in factories doing repetitive tasks while making a decent wage. The implementation of NAFTA in 1994 was the final nail in the coffin for working class people, like myself, who aren't qualified for higher education or building trades that require abstract thinking. So what should society's role be in making sure that low IQ folks aren't being a drain to the system? The US used to have a eugenics program where they would weed out the intellectually weak and sterilize them. Should a similar program be reinstated?

  • Answer:

Judging by the way you presented your argument, I find it hard to believe that you are of low intelligence. Please keep in mind that an IQ test is not a black-and-white test. It is not designed to separate the smart from the stupid, rather, it measures a person's cognitive abilities in various fields. Just because you scored low on an IQ test does not mean you are unintelligent. An IQ test is not typically a defining factor in one's success, nor is it a qualifying factor in most job fields, nor is it a qualifying factor in being admitted to most universities. To define success in occupational society is to display the traits of someone who is not necessarily a genius, but a hard worker. It is more important to be a hard worker than to be smart. Do not assume that because you have been unsuccessful that you are unintelligent and destined to live in a rut of poverty. There are opportunities for you, all you have to do is work hard and achieve your goals.

That's not true, black people can survive.

Folks with a family treasure (born in rich families) and with low IQ's can help re-distribute the wealth in the world by their dumb decisions. See, even for them there is a space in the grand scheme. On the other hand, I'm still trying to figure out what the role is for dumb poor people...

Forget the damn IQ test....they are a waste of time. You are the one who decides what you are and who you are. If you want to sit around sobbing because you have a low IQ you won't go anywhere. Get off ya butt and go out and get a job. And no there should not be a eugenics programme to sterilize those with low IQs. That would be seriously wrong and sick.
