Can anyone help me get directions to Commonwelath park in beaverton oregon?

Aaargh I can't get up in the morning and now I can barely even get up in the afternoon - can anyone help?

  • I've tried for years to break the cycle of being a night owl and not being able to get up in the morning but I just can't do it. What I want to aim for ideally is being able to get into bed at 10pm and get up at 6am - sometimes I've managed this for a few days running and then I slip back. For the past few weeks I've been unable to get up until around 10 or 11 in the morning or sometimes even midday....today was my worst result in years though; I didn't get up till half 3 in the afternoon. Now it's almost 4pm and I'm still in my PJs and the curtains are all still drawn and I haven't eaten or drunk anything cos I'm so depressed and demoralised about getting up so late. I was just about able to drag myself to the computer to ask this question, because I know I need help. I don't have a job to get up for but I am doing a proofreading course from home and when I've completed that I will want to get a job. Also I set three alarm clocks every morning (for 6am, 6.05 and 6.10) but I just sleep right through them all (Or I turn them off when I'm still half-asleep and not able to think properly)!!!!. What can I do?!?

If you've been a nightowl for years, you can't just make the leap into getting up at 6 AM from one day to the next. It's bad enough when the government makes us change our clocks twice a year! You need to give your body a chance to get used to a different schedule. You can't get up because your body is exhausted with the sudden change. Try getting up at say 9 AM for a week or two. Get to bed at say 11 PM. When your body has taken that on board, move it back so you're getting up at 8.30 or 8. This in itself will make you tired earlier in the day. Then you can move it back after a week or three to 7.30. Unless there's some sort of urgent reason you need to get up at 6, don't worry about some artificial goal. Plenty of people get up at 7 and nothing dire happens to them. Personally I don't get up till 8!! It's not like there's a rule that says all decent people rise at 6. A lot depends on your schedule, but you have to respect your body too. If you throw your body's rhythm off completely overnight like that you will probably come down with something because you're exhausted and your resistance is low. When trying to change your body's schedule, avoid watching TV or sitting at the computer for at least 2 hrs before bed. The flickering screen stimulates your brain--you don't see it flickering but it is, and your brain does. Read or listen to music instead. Avoid caffiene drinks like coffee or tea after about 3 PM. Drink something hot and milky like Ovaltine or Horlick's before bed. And make sure your bedroom is cooler than the rest of the house.
