Why do californians cut down trees for no reason?

• are they paranoid it will fall on thier house or something? I see people constantly paying to have giant beautiful trees cut down.Are people dumb and not realize that trees give oxygen and are homes for birds and some animals? Provide shade, wind, block the view and give pricacy from hellicptors or neighbors on higher ground to other poeple... Just wondering becaus eI am not a tree hugger but I respect nature and I think people just don;t care or are really stupid. Also on my street people cut down trees .

  Trees have a right to space but people cut them down for wood, housing, or what ever which is ok to some extent if they leave enough of them to re-propagate. There used to be major protest over cutting down redwood trees because the logging industry would literally rape the land of these beautiful giants. Thanks to the protest the logging industry had to change it's ways but they also got a massive gift from the federal government. Nowadays they survey the trees and mark a few within a bunch to be cut down so the trees have a chance to propagate. When the settlers arrived from Europe to the America's they wiped out a whole chain of Buffalo which was the source of food for rural Indians. It wasn't right and was very ignorant way to use resources. There are plenty of resources on earth for us all if we just used them properly. Unfortunately we have a very greedy and ignorant society when it comes down to it.
