Ok so I used to be really shy...How do I get over my "shyness" rep?
-
Ok so I got a rep for being "that shy, smart girl" and I dont want it to be the "shy" part again. It's really annoying because I'm not as much anymore and ppl still think that I am.... For example, someone teased me sayin "YOU HAVE NNOO SOCIAL SKILLS!" even though that was prob a teaser, it still REALLY hurt on the inside, and I'm not that kind of person that gets over it. And even a friend said teasingly, yea, ur all shy in class but in break your all like "whoo!" and then all of my otha friends started laughing and teasing me..even though it was a "forgive and forget" kins of thing, I still remember it and it hurts so how do I get rid of that rep? I already tried being really social, like having a bunch of sleepovers, raising my hand in class but i think the real problem is that I just don't talk in class....but its not like im shy of talking! ppl think that oh u neva talk in class, u must be really shy but I'm not! I am just too tired to talk, dont feel like talking, and all there is is wannabe losers to talk to that I dont feel like talking to!! so....How can I fix this problem??!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer:
I can relate. i used to be so shy, literally, only one sentence per hour lol. omg i was so shy. Now im more confident. When i was in elementary i was the loudest kid in class cracking jokes and sometimes rebellious. but then i got to middle school and all that changed. I became super super shy all through high school 3rd year, when i was exposed to parties and all that wildness. But i never acted an idiot, I can tell you that. Anyway i guess that kind of opened me up but i still think i could have got in touch with my social skills without the need of all the partying. Trust me, you dont need to party just to be more talkative. i was young and naive. Its nothing like that now, Im more reserved and much more mature. And yes, not shy, although i must admit i do have my moments were i get a little quiet but i guess its not nearly as bad as when i was in middle school and high school. And about your reputation, it will go away eventually. Just keep talking. I dont blame you if you dont feel like talking to those in your classroom. maybe you're not interested in starting a conversation with them because like you say they are losers. Just pay attention in class and let them think what they want. Show them how smart you are. Nothing is hotter than a smart person. Oh and sarcasm works too.

I Totally understand what you're going through. I have the same problem... :P It's really annoying. Have you tried to socialize with at least one person from each class? If not, try to. :) Try to talk to people other than your friends. Don't be afraid of talking in class. Try not to feel tired of talking either or else people will keep labeling you as the quiet/shy girl. I hope i helped a little bit :) Good Luck!
