  • I've got a project and one of my questions was where was atlantis located?

    Several historians, archaeologists, anthropologists, and psychics clam to know where we will ifind the lost city. Some claim it lies off the coast of Bimini in the Bahamas near what they believe to be a 5000 year old harbor. Others believe it to be under the ice in Antarctica. Still more believe it to be off the coast of Japan, near what look like hand cut blocks hundreds of miles offshore. The most likely theory so far proposed is the Santorini theory. Santorini was a major settlement of the Minoan Civilization that was blown to bits by a supervolcano eruption and subsequently swallowed up by a tsunami. They were an advanced civilization in the area that lost a significant amount of influence in the area the myth began right around the time that the myth began to circulate. The loss of Santorini contributed greatly to this decline and ultimate end in obscurity.

the term lost city of Atlantis implies that its location is unknown. However just because it is not currently known to have existed outside of mentions in ancient literature does not make it a legend.
