A lost civilisation in the Antarctica?
-
We all know that thousands of years ago, the climate in the Antartica was more moderate. Green plush trees and vegetation grew on it. This was discovered beneath certain ice sheets on the Antarctica. During those days, do you believe a settlement or even a civilisation could have developed there? Perhaps a lost civilisation 10 000 years old. These civilisation would be as advanced as the ancient Egyptians or the Greeks.

Answer:
I do not believe in things without evidence. So far, there's nothing to even hint at the *possibility,* much less a reality. Besides which, the forests were there 3 million years ago, not 10,000 years ago. 10,000 years ago, Antartica was covered in snow and ice and had been for a very long time. 3 million years ago, we had just barely started figuring out stone tools. We didn't yet have the capasity for language. Homo sapiens only emerged about 200,000 years ago. So no, I don't think of this as particularly plausible. There's nothing to support it and lots against it.

You're talking about Atlantis. Some people think that Antarctica might be the lost continent of Lemuria, and that the continent was shoved towards the south pole in a cataclysmic shifting of Earth's crust. However, there is absolutely no scientific evidence whatsoever of any of that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantis

At that time period there was an ice age and sea levels were much lower so the ice would have been much thicker and covering a larger area. The north pole has a story told by aviator Charles Lindberg. He claims that while flying over the north pole he landed at a city there that was at the bottom of an enormus hole. He refueled and was on his way. Maybe you are looking on the wrong pole.

You might want to read "The Mountains of Madness" by H.P. Lovecraft. Excellent story along somewhat similar themes, although with a civilization far older than mere thousands of years.
