Why do people not belive in ghosts if so may people have seen them?

because it contridicts there current belief on life after death

the fact is i did believe in ghosts but as i grew up and met more and more people that said they had seen ghosts i stopped believing coz most of them where talking complete crap once you start to look into what they say you find that they take the slightest little thing and take giant leaps with it and conclude it must be a ghost when there are loads of other things it could be. 95% of ghost sightings are made by people in bed that swear they where awake but lets face it I woke up in the middle of the night to find some one standing at the foot of my bed i would think burglar not oh its great uncle Harry and roll over and go back to sleep. when you look at it with unbiased eyes, you can see there is no proof just a load of old B-S

Because most people haven't had experiences with them. The people that fake the photos and short films about them give the authentic ones a bad name and cause more skepticism. It does also interfere with belief systems of some religions. Finally: People that have not witnessed anything refuse to believe it until they see it.

It's easy to fake a ghost sighting / photograph or to make up a sighting so people are skeptical. It's a hard one to answer. You might want to ask yourself, do you believe in God? No proof, but evidence everywhere? I think it's better not to have proof because it mean people can debate, which is far more interesting :)

i believe in Ghosts/Spirits but i agree you should ask yourself/other people these questions: Do you believe in God? if not but isn't he everywhere? Do you believe in Santa? no? then who brings you gifts on Christmas? Do you believe in Ghost but not Spirits? aren't they the same? how about the Tooth Fairy? Easter Bunny? The Boogie Man?

You have to understand that working of certain people for they feel that if they can't see a ghost then ghost don't exist... And they think that way because the thoughts of ghost actually scares them...............

The people who can't r won't see them don't believe that ghosts are real because they can't see them. Not enough people can see them for everyone to believe it.

because people can lie, misinterpret things and evidence can be fabricated so a majority of us dont believe "he says she says" they only beleive what they see.

Witness testimony is notoriously unreliable- ask any police officer about witness testimony and they will tell you it is true: Sometimes what people WANT to see affects what they BELIEVE they have seen- even in their minds- so it changes their testimony of what they have seen. Videos, pictures, can all be explained generally as well in some way- a trick of the light, double exposure, etc...and science generally needs absolute proof in order to be given the point of view that it is real. YOU may believe there are pictures of ghosts- but there isn't any absolute, undeniable proof or there wouldn't be as many unbelievers as there are. There's a big difference between Obama and ghosts- you can ask Obama to appear, or go to where he is, and definitely see him. No one reputable has ever been able to "track down" a ghost or demand it appear and get absolute, undeniable proof that is beyond scientific question. Can you believe ghosts exist? Sure- it's a free world and you are open to believe what you want just as others are free to believe what they want.
