What are the steps for becoming a CRNA?

Steps to becoming a CRNA?

  • I am currently in the Air Force and for the past 2 years I've been trying to decide a new career path, and CRNA has been the one thing that I've found most appealing to me. So I was hoping to get a little more insight from someone who knows the ins and outs of this. I'm currently a maintainer for the Air Force and was wondering if I reenlisted and cross trained into medical if that would help towards the education requirements or not. In high school I was an idiot and didn't do so hot and was wondering if my GPA from high school would have an impact on this career path(fortunately since I joined the military I've got my head on straight and trying really hard in school, cause I know the schooling for this isn't a cakewalk) . I'm currently taking classes towards an associates in health science. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

  • Answer:

You need to get a bachelors degree in nursing (BSRN) and then work for a minimum of 1 year in critical care nursing, take any more pre-regs per the specific program, and then apply to the CRNA program.
