Is runners knee permanent?

MRI for Left knee/runners knee?

  • I will try to be short... I run daily 20-25 kilometers on road (Past 3 years) I dream to be able to do my next month marathon under 3 hours... but this past week I have been crying since running is so emotinal to me.. I love it.. - I can't run as whenver I bend my knees my left latral outside knee is paining and I can feel griding noises.. so today I went to a private hospital and did an MRI.. (Also knee pains when I go down stairs) after 4 hours of MRI and doctor test and consultation.. he said the report everything is fine but there is little FLUID in your knee/patella.. he says this is patella related pain and said this is due to excess running.. and gave me a painkiller arxocia and said rest for 2-4 days from running and avoid bending.. i mean the pain will go right..? I am just so upset.. i have the MRI report it shows that all are normal including cartilage.. ? so.. I showed it to another doctor as wel... (I dont know why people keep saying cartilage problem..

  • Answer:

There may not even be a cartilage problem. But you will have to rest the knee. myself i would rest more than 2 or 3 days. I played football and yes a knee is very painful if hurt. because all your weight is on it.They should be able to drain the water off the knee. But try not to get into a big hurry to run. because each time you hurt the knee it will take longer to heal. Trust me on this one. Better safe than sorry.
