In Laymans terms- difference btwn a republican and democrat?

Democrats - Government controls the people and provides for them - Big government Republicans - People control the government, and provide for themselves - Small government That's as simple as I can make it

Conservatives (most Republicans) believe in conserving money and using it to pay what we owe instead of spending it on more things and hoping someone will come along and pay it later. They are for small federal government and don't want a society like that in "1982" by george Orwell. We believe that we should be able to spend our money how we want to spend it. We believe that individual states should have control over decisions such as prostitution and abortion that way if the majority of your state is against it then most of the people in your state don't have to suffer having an abortion clinic on every street corner. Liberals (most Democrats) want a large centralized government. They want to be big brother and tell everyone how they should live and force them to live that way. They believe that the people are not capable of making the tough decisions and so they make them for them. They are more for social reforms like Welfare and Social Security. Bigger government means more bureaucrats. Most of them think we should have freedom from religion not freedom of religion.

Easy Question. Republicans work and pay taxes. Democrats won't work and live off taxes. It's so simple. (I escaped the old Democrat Plantation, where blacks and poor whites were kept in their place, kept poor, and kept voting Democrat.) I Escaped. I wish Everyone would.

ok, real simple: Dems are mostly anti-religion, everyone do as they like, gay can get married, spread the wealth around kinda like socialism and they are for killing babies/abortions/pro-choice Repubs are pro-Christianity, everyone work hard to receieve a pay check, dont spread the wealth around, anti-abortion/pro-life, and like to keep things the way they are, dont like much of this new-age change change change, like Obama and socialism.

Democrats are all about making the few pay for the many. Republicans are all for everyone working for everything.

Republicans say they love small governments. What they really love is controlling laws and such by their own moral beliefs, regardless of your own. Example: Marijuana is a victimless "crime" with plenty of evidence to show that it's less harmful than tobacco or alcohol. The government shouldn't be able to tell me what I can do with my own body. Democrats are portrayed as liking a big government, which isn't untrue. They want to control other aspects such as redistribution of wealth, entitlement programs, and generally are pro-choice and for legalization of marijuana. Basically, both parties want big governments, they just disagree with which part to control, fiscal or social issues. Democrats want fiscal control and Republicans want control of social issues. Edited to add: Both parties SUCK!

Nothing much. The major parties are essentially the same anymore, despite their differing party platforms. They say whatever it takes to get elected. EDIT: BP, there is no reason to be smug. I gave you the HONEST answer. The major parties don't have any real beliefs anymore. They simply stump for things that appeal to the most radical end of their support base. Once they are in office, they do whatever the hell they want, which hasn't produced positive results for this country in a very long time.

Layman's terms? They're just two different parties.
