I supported the efforts to remove Al-Queda, which had largely been done before Obama ordered a troop surge when he was elected (Bin Laden was already in Pakistan and the rest of Al-Queda was on the border). I'm not certain why he (or his Generals) thought a troop surge in Afghanistan to fight the Taliban was a good idea or that continuing to fight the Taliban was a good idea. I mean really, less than 100 CIA agents, the air force & some special forces toppled the Taliban relatively quickly Why exactly did we need to piss off the rest of the population by invading in large numbers and get it into our head that we were going to completely eliminate the Taliban (when the Taliban is tied directly to their core religious beliefs).
