Why do I often hearing Republicans denying these two facts about global warming & the economy?
-
Democrats generally agree that global warming is caused by the billions of tons of carbon emissions shot in to the atmosphere each year. Republicans don't deny that the planet is warming, but they say the warming is due to a natural climate cycle of the earth and the sun. Did Republicans also think that the hole in the ozone layer happened on its own too? Funny that after the international community began outlawing CFC's, the ozone hole began to get smaller and "repair" itself. Democrats say that our current economic recession is the worst since the Great Depression. Republicans claim that the economic situation is not that bad, and is only the worst since the late 70's and early 80's. Yet, the stats suggest otherwise. 2008 saw the most lost jobs in the US since 1945, when WWII ended (and many factories closed up). Toyota reported that 2008 was the first year they've lost money and not profited in their entire history (since 1938). And this was largely due to the recession in the US (Japan is also in a recession due to the US recession). There weren't large corporations folding over everywhere in the late 70's and early 80's like there are now. There weren't entire industries begging Congress for bailouts. 46 out of 50 states are on the path of bankruptcy. It was never this bad in the early 80's. So why are Republicans disagreeing? Do Republicans like to disagree with Democrats simply to disagree? If a Democrat said 2+2=4, will Republicans try to come up with a way to explain it's 7?

Answer:
There is room for discussion in science. That is what makes it science instead of say, religion. When you start blacklisting scientists who want to say that perhaps global warming is not caused by humans, then you have pushed back science hundreds of years. You develop a null hypothesis, then you try to disprove it. Come on, that is physics 101. Thousands of years ago, 80% of the large land animals went extinct because of rapid climate change. Was that caused by human camp fires? We live in a very dynamic world. Climates change. Adapt!

I don't deny that Al Gore flies private jets and get spa treatments at the Four Seasons? What's the urgency? Why do I have to ride my bike to work but that loser can take limousines. GLOBAL WARMING IS A FRAUD

I have a feeling that you don't really want an answer rather you just want your liberal buddies to all join in your little circle jerk and bash Republicans. Your grammar is horrid by the way.

Gawd..... Two separate studies through NASA confirm that since 2003, the world's oceans have been losing heat. In the peak of the recent warming trend, 1998 actually ranked 2nd to 1934 as the warmest year on record. John Willis, an oceanographer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab, published his first report about the warming oceans. The article Correcting Ocean Cooling (see below) published on NASA's Earth Observatory page this week discussed his and other results. willis used data from1993-2003 that showed the warm-up and followed the Global Warming Theory. In 2006, he co-piloted a follow-up study led by John Lyman at Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory in Seattle that updated the time series for 2003-2005. Surprisingly, the ocean seemed to have cooled. He was surprised, and called it a 'speed bump' on the way to global warming. A second, independent study was conducted. Takmeng Wong and his colleagues at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Virginia came up with the same results. Wong studies net flux of solar energy at the top of our atmosphere. From the 1980s to 1990s his team noticed increased amounts net energy when comparing incoming solar energy to what Earth radiates and reflects. Since then, the solar flux has remained the same. Other studies have suggested that the sun's output has decreased in the past few years. Wong's take is that melting arctic ice is responsible for the cooling of the oceans. I contend that if that were the case, why did it take until 2003 to show cooling, after a few decades of warming? Also, the UKMET office showed that Earth's temperatures have been cooling for the past five years. Since 75% of the planet is water, that would make sense. Just last week, I wrote about the arctic sea ice returning to 1979 levels just 1 1/2 years after the fear of the biggest summer ice retreat in 2007. But what about the basics? Ocean temperatures do experience a 'lag' or delay in heating and cooling. That is why Ocean City's surf temperatures are chilly during Memorial Day weekend, but warm significantly by Labor Day weekend. The average Northern Hemisphere's peak heat (air temp) is in mid-July, while the Atlantic Ocean's peak heat (water) is in mid-September. The ocean temperature peaks in mid-September coincide with heightened hurricane activity. So, could these reports indicate that melting cools the oceans and has a negative feedback on warming? Is this just a speed bump in the general trend of warming? Does this 'surprise' almost sound like they are dissapointed that the warming trend has not continued so far? Or is this just part of a natural cycle, such as the seasons, but on a larger scale? With regard to cycles, we have only been sampling and studying a small part of Earth's history and have perhaps jumped to conclusions about the impact of carbon dioxide (there are more potent gases such as methane that don't make headlines). What do you think? What about the 'surprise' of the scientists?

Would you feel better if a bunch of good communists said global warming was bunk? Well Russia says its crap..... http://astuteblogger.blogspot.com/2008/03/russian-scientists-disown-global.html Things suck economically out there.

I don't understand that either, but not all Republicans are the same.
the Starzzzy in the sky
The GW issue should not be used to advance political agendas. We should all use common sense when it comes to the environment. And speaking of common sense, when it comes to the economy...it seems to me that when things are financially stressful, we should NOT be spending money, as in this proposed "stimulus" bill. Cut taxes and cut spending is the only thing that makes sense in these dire straits.
Truth B. Told ITS THE ECONOMY STUPID
It sounds to me you worship at the alter of doom and gloom. I can see why. With all the left leaning news preaching the sky is falling, nobody has a job, everyone is losing their homes, world market collapse, and the earth it's self in an irreversible state of burning up and we're all gonna die, I can see where you have become affected with this distorted view of things. I can also see you do not embrace or have any faith in your "historic" "yes we can" and "hope and change" so called leader so blaming republicans is about all you have left. You are not helping with this attitude. That is why the republicans see things differently. We know things will work out if we stick to what makes sense and know we all are not going to die tomorrow because of some bad economy or global incineration. Try working on the hope and change and don't be so negative like your messiah says.
