Great point. Employment numbers would be EVEN FURTHER in the crapper if it weren't for the fact that 0bama was (luckily) elected on the eve of a Census. But in a few months it'll all return back to normal. He's fooling the Left for now, but those are only temp jobs... they can't stay around forever.

You can't just make jobs where people don't actually do anything just so they have work. If there's no production, and the census isn't very productive, the government would be paying people but not getting the money back in taxes. It would spell economic disaster. Also, such a scheme would totally be socialist.

Temporary Government, or full time Government jobs do not create any economic value. They are a drain on the system, not a contribution.

According to historical data even if you remove the 400,000 government job it was still one of the better months in the last few years.

If everyone would have mailed back their Census forms their would be no need for all these Government jobs. They would have had to create them somewhere else in the Government. Disagree. We would be hiring 400,000 and firing new workers every week. It would take another bureaucracy just to keep up.

It certainly would be nice to create 431,000 jobs a month because as it stands there are at least 15 million unemployed people in the USA right now and millions more have simply given up looking or have taken menial part time jobs to survive. However it is not sustainable to grow government to the size required to hire 431,000 a month. There has to be massive growth in the private sector in order to sustain any growth in government spending. Right now the government is spending more and more money but their revenue sources are vanishing. Private companies know that tax increases are on the way and the health care bill is threatening to them. They are basically on strike, not hiring new workers until the environment for business improves.

Where's your source? 431,000 jobs created in May 2010 The US Census has hired a TOTAL of 140,000 temp employees in May (hiring for the census is DONE, no other hires will be made). 291,000 jobs created which had nothing to do with the US census. Stop selling fear, no one's buying except other Neo-cons.
