What jobs should I be looking at in the Navy or Army, didnt get any answers last time.?

Both branches have engineering fields, that with your background, would probably interest you. As does the Marine Corps, but as evidence from your friend you are not guaranteed an engineering MOS as an officer. Active Duty officers in the USMC are assigned a MOS based on the needs of the Marine Corps and how well they performed in OCS. Navy engineers are referred to as SEABEES and have a fairly diverse career field, but typically revolves around construction. Army engineers are referred to as SAPPERS, they too have a very diverse career field, but is not as limited to construction. It includes some explosives training, where I don't believe the Seabees deal with explosives. From what I have heard Sapper school is one of the better Army schools and ranks up there with Jump School as far as its use by other services. Marine combat engineers don't have a catchie moniker as the Navy and Army do, but the training is very good, for both enlisted and officers. However, as an engineer officer (1302) you get to train and learn many different aspects of engineering including; explosives, construction, bridge building, drafting and surveying, etc. I tried to make this as unbiased as possible, good luck and hopefully you find an MOS that doesn't put you in charge of a bunch of retards.

make sure you are talking to an OFFICER recruiter in the Navy. we use separate ones for Os and Es. in neither branch do you get to choose a thing if you commission. the Navy will OFFER you a choice.. could be one, could be up to 3 Designnators. you accept one of them. think Nuke, maybe SeaBees the Army will decide what to do with you after you are already commissioned.( My guess is, you;d make a decent Corps of Engineers type) but here's the the thing.. there are no more Navy selection boards this year.. the last one is being held this month. and there has NOT been any indication when the next one will be scheduled so it could be months before they even want a packet from you. Not sure on Army, they are larger and need more bodies. for the last couple of years, if you did not commission via ROTC o r the Service academies, there was very LITTLE hope of beings elected via OCS or OTS. all five Branches have been getting everyone they need through ROTC and the SA. assuming that you also have the required sports involvement, leadership roles and community involvement, you are most likely a string candidate for either Branch.. IF they are hiring.
