Conventional Warfare vs. Unconventional Warfare?

Being an SEAL officer is much more prestigious than being a Marine officer.

The question doesn't really make sense. Its not a matter of competing between the two. Which one you use depends on the situation and often both types are used in support of each other in a lot of situations. So a Midshipman deciding between what he wants to do in the service is his own personal choice based what what they like to do.

being spec ops gets you more opportunities to do unconventional things in training and combat. being a regular marine infantry doesn't make you spec ops (even though most poolies think they are). you are a regular line unit and have more restrictions on what you can do. the opportunities for growth are higher in spec ops, and generally faster. in a regular unit it'll be slower, but you'll work with the regular joes and some people prefer that. some people prefer the speed of training in spec ops. i know a bunch of army SF guys that love the level of training they get and wouldn't give it up for anything. then i am in a regular line unit and can see how it has some perks that specops doesn't have. wait. no it doesn't. nevermind. go spec ops.

Due to the overwhelming predominance of the US military, conventional warfare is no longer an option for our enemies. Their only option is unconventional warfare, at least for the forseeable future.
