Can you be disqualified at MEPS for having an allergy to nickel?

Does anybody know of any body being disqualified on the day of their last swear-in at MEPS the day they leave?

  • Have you ever heard of anybody being disqualified by MEPS on the day they leave for BCT, like some issues such that fall under fraudulent enlistment coming to light? For example, if MEPS discovered a past (undisclosed, and not disclosed by the recruit when brought to light)suicide attempt and other troubling information, would they stop someone from disembarking that day or would they pass them onto Boot anyway?Just wondering.

  • Answer:

Attempted suicide may well show on a criminal background check. As it is illegal it could well be on public record. Telling a fib is not bad in these regards. It is REAL F ING BAD. 883. ARTICLE 83. FRAUDULENT ENLISTMENT, APPOINTMENT, OR SEPARATION Any person who-- (1) procures his own enlistment or appointment in the armed forces by knowingly false representation or deliberate concealment as to his qualifications for the enlistment or appointment and receives pay or allowances thereunder; or (2) procures his own separation from the armed forces by knowingly false representation or deliberate concealment as to his eligibility for that separation; shall be punished as a court-martial may direct. 884. ARTICLE 84. UNLAWFUL ENLISTMENT, APPOINTMENT, OR SEPARATION Any person subject to this chapter who effects an enlistment or appointment in or a separation from the armed forces of any person who is known to him to be ineligible for that enlistment, appointment, or separation because it is prohibited by law, regulation, or order shall be punished as a court-martial may direct. It is unlikley that they would waste time with a Court Martial. They can go a step beyond a ELS and zap you with a OTH with an RE4 so you cannot attempt to enter another Branch. All the details of WHY are not required here. You phucked up BIG TIME if this is "attempt" involved police involvement. SSG US Army 73-82 Worked with law enforcement once or twice too!

Good job Wayne C, It really doesn't matter if you get to basic training they will make you ineligible at basic. Then hold you there in limbo, for as long as it takes to write orders to send you home it might be a while being woke up early called a s***bird and worse every day. My question is who would do this? and have you lost your mind?
