  • Answer:

ROTC is a commissioning source. Basically its a class you take which prepares you to be an officer. most have physical exercise (PT) in the morning. mine was twice a week from 630am-730am. you take a class and a lab. you sign your contract when you are a junior and go to leadership camp for 30 days that summer. you may have to attend a leadership camp before your junior year if you are joining up as a junior. You can take the class and lab as a freshman and soph. those are the more fun classes. jr and senior are core classes where you learn about being a leader. once a semester you do a field training exercise. Yea it takes a lot of time. also, as a jr or senior you're in charge and accountable for the other cadets and training. You're degree doesnt matter unless youre a nurse but even then you're not automatically put into the nursing corps. You can request MP as your top choice but you may not get it. my commander would fight for us if we didnt at least get a top 3 choice but i guess that depends on your class ranking also. Everyone starts as a second lieutenant even if you have a masters. Unless of course you're a doctor -which we're not talking about. Talk to all the rotc's on campus- i wish i'd done air force.. oh i forgot to say when you sign your contract you get a monthly stipend-350 jr and 400sr. it's probably gone up. you can get a 2 yr scholarship but then you owe the army 4 active years/4 inactive ( i did army) if not you're looking at 3 yrs active and 5 years inactive. You could also do the smp program where you drill with a reserve or guard unit and do rotc. so you get drill pay and tuition assistance benefits . im sure this is info overload- google rotc and you may get a powerpoint about it.

Ok it's pretty easy to find this online, or on GoArmy.com ROTC is a program that trains college students to be officers in the military after graduation. Yes it is a good idea, and you can become a MP officer (like an actual officer) as long as you do good and get your 1st branch choice (which would be MP). Since you're at a CC, you will probably have to do the 2 year program at a bigger University that has a ROTC program. You should apply for the 2 year scholarship as well. No the degree in LE would not increase your pay anymore than any other degree, any degree will allow you to become an officer.

Reserve Officer's Training. You received training to be an officer in the military. If you get a degree you will be able to be an Officer.
