How do I get my pyrotechnics license?

How long after a military member get out the military would they have to renew license 2000? If I retire, how?

  • I guess i should have went into more depth. I received a Texas driver's license in 1994. Since i was enroute to several overseas duty stations, I received a paper copy driver's license with 00000 for a expiration date. I was informed that I had a year after retirement to get a new driver's license. In the mist of various moves, TDY's and deployments the paper copy got mangled and lost. I was informed by the clerk at the time I received my license that I had a code 30 put on my license. After some research, its for military members in their system. As a former military policeman who maintained a government license my whole career, I'm positive that in the past you had a year after separation to get a new license. I see that is no longer the same procedure. Anyway, I requested a duplicate copy of my license and was informed that there is no record of me ever having a Texas license even though I registered my vehicle through Texas. After my retirement and hospital stay last February, I found out the new Texas manual requires 90 day after retirement/separation. So my license should have shown that it was expired. When I finally got someone on the phone at Texas DMV they stated my driver's license had expired two years ago even though i was in the military. So when i asked for any documentation stating that it had expired, I was informed she couldn't because there is no record of me in their system. I'm currently in Virginia, a single parent and under doctor's care as to why I've not stormed down to Texas to find out what happend. I currently only have my International license with my texas information on it. I believe i was mistakenly deleted out of there system after 2005 after bought my vehicle and and registered it. Its currently registered in Texas. So with all the outside controls of people who checked my license for expiration, it couldn't have just been a lack of awareness on my part. Now i do admit with retirement, divorce and hospitalization happening all at once, I may have been a little preoccupied and was not as diligent as I should have been. However for Texas DMV to say there is no record of me has left me speechless. I've never ever gotten any type of ticket for any violation, never been in trouble and have been stopped numerous time for Texas plates and tint on my vehicle as i travelled the US. Sorry, got kind of long winded. lol

  • Answer:

Dude - forget the Texas issue, for god's sakes. It makes no difference anymore. Just go down to the DMV in Virginia and get a new license. Who gives the proverbial rat's a** about what has happened in Texas - that's int he past, time to move on. I can tell you that I have pulled the PCS/Active duty flim flam for 23 years over keeping my Georgia tag and license - and gotten away with it, but once you are retired, you need to register with where ever you are a resident. As I recall, Virginia law is pretty specific about that. I'm not sure what the government license and international license has to do with anything. Neither effect a state license in way, shape, or form. Bottom Line: go to VaDMV and get your new license.

Just go to the DMV and get another license. If you're retired and living in Virginia, then you shouldn't be using a Texas license anyway. Not real difficult to figure out.

As a person who is retired from the military, you are required to obtain a valid drivers license in the state where you have chosen to be a citizen.
