Is boom operator a good job?

Air Force Boom Operator?

  • My husband is cross training...and for some reason he is doing it blindly, he isn't really looking into the details of each job. Right now he is wanted to be a boom operator. I know they are gone more often but for a less amount of time. How often and for how long are they gone. I also hear they don't deploy as often (regular deployments, not tdy). I am just not sure this is an ideal job for a family man. Any info would be greatly helpful! Thanks

  • Answer:

he should be looking at jobs which would give him the experience to help him find a job once he gets out. what kind of a job would he be getting in the civilian world as an ex boom operator

ok well im in the process of joining atm and my recriuter tells me normal airforce deployments are usually 3-4 months so not too too bad i would personally go over all the jobs hes qualified for and do some extra reaserch on each one altho i hear inflight refueling is one of the harder jobs to get in the airforce but it wouldnt be a bad job at all imo
