Can I get a medical transcription job without the official training?

After i complete basic training and get sent to complete job training for my selected job?

  • will i be living in a house, or apartment where someone else could live with me, like my wife. or will it be just like basic training ?

  • Answer:

If you're married and you gave your recruiter copies of your marriage license and birth certificates for your children (if any) then you'll receive basic allowance for housing. This is enough to rent a small apartment when you're E-1 through E-4. NCOs get enough to rent a nice apartment or small cookie cutter houses depending on the area. Officers get enough to purchase a house. There are Army owned houses on the post, but the waiting list is usually 2 years long, and they're painfully small.

You will be living on post, in barracks, but nicer that Basic.

If you are married, you will either be assigned base housing (if it is available)..or you will receive a housing allowance that will assist you in living off base. Contrary to other posts, married military members "DO NOT" live in a barracks with their spouse !! However, I can tell you from my actual experience, it is possible, that if you arrive to your first permanent station, with your wife, you may be placed in temporary living quarters, that are more like a hotel than a barracks, until housing arrangements are made for you.
