Want to be psychiatrist what do i need to do?

For a mos i want i need a top Secret clearance would have seeing a psychiatrist before affect this?

  • I am 25 years old trying to go For human intelligence collecter and was wondering about the moral screening they do to acquire a sertuity clearance for this. When i was 19 i saw a pychistrist 3/4 times and was prescribed anti-depressionn pills but i never took them will this be found out?will they care? Should i even bother for a mos with a security clearance if i risk geting banned from joining all military services????

  • Answer:

You shouldn't lie. Neither should you volunteer any information you haven't been asked for. Unless the US government specifically asked for information regarding your psychiatric record (and 3-4 times is not a lengthy period of psychiatric therapy), you shouldn't tell them about it, because it's none of their business. But if you're asked, yes, tell them the truth. All of it. Depression isn't that big a deal, really, and the recruiter might overlook it. And not qualifying for one MOS doesn't mean you get banned from all of them - just that you don't get the security clearance for the MOS you want. But lying on your form WILL get you blackballed from the Armed Services. Generally, if you sign that it's true at the bottom of the form and it's not, that's perjury, a Federal crime, and an absolute disqualification from military service.

I think you'll be fine. I wouldn't mention it, but if they ask, don't lie about it. Because if they ask, they probably already know.

Hello Tim, Are you serious about being in the US Military? First off, you must pass the physical exam, ASVAB, and the Army must have a school slot for you to enter this Army MOS. MOS 35M http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjobs/a/97e.htm Not a Top Secret clearance job. Only a Secret Clearance. "ASVAB Score Required: 95 in aptitude area ST Security Clearance: Secret" Other Requirements Normal color vision required Must be US Citizen A qualifying score on the Defense Language Aptitude Battery, (DLAB), of 100 or above A qualifying score on the English Comprehension Level Test Never been a member of the U.S. Peace Corps Possess good voice quality and be able to speak English without objectionable accent or speech impediments Good voice quality and be able to speak English and foreign language idiomatically and without objectionable accent or impediment" Secret clearance is run by National Security Agency checks. No "shrink" unless there is some other indication that they uncover. Go for it. Training is 18 weeks in Arizona after 12 weeks of Army Basic Combat Training. Best wishes, Larry Smith Senior Master Sergeant, USAF (Ret.) First Sergeant

Well I'm in the Air Force DEP and the only time I saw those questions was for pre-screening. If they didn't care until now, I don't think they'll care at all. When you have your meeting with the agent, just be truthful and as long as you don't fudge it up I think you should be fine. BTW did you report the medication at MEPS? Remember mate, if it's no at MEPS, it's NO. Dont' look back.

Do not lie to the military, it eventually will bite you in the A$$!!

"Do not tell them a f'ing thing"..........is most certainly not what my recruiter told me when i went to meps........wink wink
