Whats happing in a marine bootcamp?

  • im 16 and my bf is 17 last night we said our last goodbye because tomorrow he would be leaving for marine boot camp im really sad I been reading a LOT of info about whats hap ping there today should be his 1st day there whats hap ping right about now?and is there anyone i can email about this who's husband or bf went thorough this.but anyway what im trying to say is can anyone give me a lot of info about whats gonna happen his 1st week and when will i get a letter from him and just some general info that you think would be help full thanks everyone have Wonder full day. :D

    Haha, Watch Full Metal Jacket. All of my friends that are Marines (I live 20 minutes from the biggest Marine base on the West Coast), as well as my boyfriend who is a Marine, say that the movie Full Metal Jacket is as close to Marine Boot Camp as Hollywood can get. They yell a lot and make you run and do pushups all the time, and no matter how hard you try, they always find an excuse to yell and make you do more running and pushups. The goal is psychological, to deprive the recruits of sleep and dignity, and turn them into soldiers that will obey orders without question.

Well it isn't camp snoopy wheres he's singing songs around the camp fire and his drill instructors are saying please when they are "asking" him to do something. He's currently getting stripped of all identity he had as civillian and being broken down to the lowest level possible so he can be built back up into a Marine that will be able to function under extremely demanding conditions and carry out orders that are given without question. He's getting yelled at, being humiliated and has no personal freedoms, it's all to get him accustomed to operating in the very stressful situations that he will encounter in a combat environment.
