How long is it normal to wait after pre-employment drug test?

Turning my life around, I want to Join the AF but how soon do they Drug Test? Should I wait?

I am abandoning the dead end world I live in now, and have decided to use my intelligence and talents for the greater good and to get some experiences in the world, and actually live life. My question is: how soon do they test you for entrance? You have to be scheduled for ASVAB and the physical. I am also interested in the Officer Training program most of all, which means I will be in regular university until I graduate. What is the schedule like for joining? Take the asvab, couple weeks later take the physical, drug test etc?? I want to make a positive change in my life and I don't want to screw it up for myself because of mistakes I have made concerning marijuana.

    the first day you are at MEPS you will be drug tested. if you fail you will NEVER be allowed to come and try again. period. Peeing Hot at MEPS means you are doen forever. no more waiting 6 montsh then trying again. depending on ho wmuch/how long you have been usingm it can tyake 6 montsh to clkear out of yoru systrem/. LONGER if you have a high boidy fat content. NONE of thiose "cleanse your body of toxins: systems work. additionally: long term use is a PDQ. more than say a dozen times over a lifetime is a PDQ. especially in today;s job market when they are turning away people who never even smoked a cigarrette in their lives. and don't bother trying to lie or omit. you WILL be tested several more times as well, including twice in quick succession just as you are about to ship out and at ANY time while you are in DEP.

Officer? Lol, from your background that isn't likely. You aren't getting into AFROTC, and OTS requires about a 3.5 GPA in a technical major to be competitive for. You don't get any sympathy points for turning your life around, 99% of people could never be AF Officers and a college degree does NOT guarantee that you'll be an Officer. Also, with your past you'll just get turned down for OTS because of your past drug use, the standards for such things are much higher. Anyway, stay off the drugs for at least 3 months then contact a recruiter about enlisting.

They test you on your initial visit to MEPS. I took my ASVAB about a month before I was able to go to MEPS so check with your recruiter on how he/she does it If you toked up recently stall for a while and remember 3 is the magic number.

You will take the ASVAB. The next day do your physical and everything else. They told us at MEPS if you have done any drugs within the last 45 days just go home. They said you would fail the drug test. You would have to wait 6 months. Then you would have to submit waivers and hope they accept you again

When i applied for the Marines, they said if you have taken drugs, wait for about 3 months, come back, then apply or you will fail it.

the schedule is pretty flexible. just talk to your recruiter and work it out so that you dont go to MEPS for like a month just to be sure its all out of your system. MEPS is open almost every day I think so you should be able to schedule it for whenever works for you. good luck!
