Where is the best station to PCS in Italy?

My wife is deploying once we pcs to our next duty station will i be able to move close to another base?

  • WE HAVE TWO CHILDREN AND I WAS PLANNNING ON JUST MOVING AROUND ANOTHER BASE THAT IS CLOSE TO MY FAMILY WHILE SHE IS DEPLOYED, I WANT TO ENROLL OUR CHILDREN IN SCHOOL AND I WILL LIKE TO WORK ON THAT BASE AND ALSO BE ABLE TO USE THE MEDICAL FACILITIES FOR MY CHILDREN IS THAT POSSIBLE?

    Yes. However, she's got PCS orders and you can either live on that base in housing or collect BAH for that location. If you decide to live in another location that's up to you to pay for the move. You can use the medical facility but you'll be on a space available basis since your wife is not attached to a tenant command.

I'm not trying to be rude BUT... are you new to the military???? No, you can't just pick & chose which base you prefer to live on. Bases have 100 active duty married members and 100 active duty married housing... you leave your base and go to that base, what does someone assigned there do???? You live on or near the base to which your spouse is assigned. If you wish to move closer to home, do so, but expect to live on the economy. Can you imagine if spouses can just pick whatever base they wanted to live on??? No one would live on Eielson AFB (Fairbanks, Alaska) and opt for Hickam (Hawaii) instead! Just ain't gonna fly. Personally I lived in Alaska 10 years... I would rather live there than Hawaii, I was just using that as an example. The numbers are also made up for effect... don't take that literally in the amount of housing available to any particular base.

all expenses will be out of pocket, you will NOT be eligible for base housing at the other base and BAH remains at her DUTY station location. and no it is possible that they will NOT be allowed to use medical facilities. your sponsor is not stationed there so they are last on the priority list. if the medical facilities are full they will not be seen on base at all.
