How did you know what job you wanted to do?

I'm in the united states army and I wanted to know how do I go about getting a contracting job overseas?

  • I am a human resource specialist and I ets January 2013 and was interested in getting a government contracting job when I get out but I don't know how to go about it.

  • Answer:

Go over to the Civilian Personnel Office and set up an appointment to talk with their version of your current job if you want to be a DoD civilian. They will tell you all you would ever want to know about hiring on with the USG. If you want to be an actual contractor, i.e.: work for a civilian company that works for the USG, then you need to find out who the companies are in your area and simply go to their websites and click on the employment links.

Other answers

I don't remember exactly where, but you can find links to transition pages on your AKO. Additionally, you might want to talk to some of the contractors that work in your staff sections, those G-types are usually really high speed and fresh off the line.
