What is the best medical/ emergency job in the military?

  • im looking into all the jobs for military that will give me the best training when transitioning into the civilian world. what do you think is the best between navy corpsman, air force, and army 68w?

    Being a navy corpsman would be a great choice. Corpsmans are trained to do almost everything. You're expected to adapt to any situations fast! School is pretty long depending on what route you take. A-school is about 14 weeks, if you get a C-school that would range from 16 weeks to a year, then you go FMTB that would be 8 weeks. there you would be trained to be with the Marines. And being a corpsman opens a lot of doors outside, for ex. becoming a IDC corpsman, you would only be a couple credit away from becoming a PA on the outside.Not only that you can go on to receive more specialized training and become a Medical Laboratory Technician, Radiology Technician, Aerospace Medicine Specialist, Pharmacy Technician, Operating Room Technician, etc.

All branches do the same medical training at Joint Base Sam Houston in San Antonio TX. Each branch is instructed separately from each other, and are instructed by civilians and Army instructors. The first half of training is becoming a certified EMT-B, which you must maintain throughout your enlistment. Your best chance of being in real life combat situations would be the Army or a Navy corpsman who got assigned to the Marines (but you don't get to choose what type of unit you go to).

If you can't find the necessary info to answer your question yourself, I would never want you involved with any medical emergencies pertaining to myself or any member of my family!
