Did the army base in Schwabisch Gmund close?

Are there any boot camps that are close at all to simulating the army boot camps?

  • A family friend wants to join the army but his parents want to make sure that he knows exactly what he's getting into. I've tried looking online but all that I can find is information to the actual army boot camps. Are there any boot camps out there that aren't just for physical fitness that we can enroll him in that are at least somewhat close to what he might experience in the army? It seems like he's thinking of the army as some cure-all for his life's woes and they just want to make sure that he knows exactly what he's getting himself into and that he'll be able to handle it.

If he is in high school, and his high school has army jrotc, they have a two week summer camp. He could possibly attend it. However, it is not not not nearly as INTENSE as army basic so keep that in mind. If he is a sophomore in college, he can go to Army ROTC basic camp at Fort Knox. It is a 4 week course and the interesting part is that you do not have to join the Army at the end of the camp. However, you are pressured to contract with rotc at the end but you can refuse to do so. He better be careful about going back to S. Korea if he has dual citizenship. All S. Korean males are required to do compulsorily military service.
