What kind of things should I do to prepare for medical school?

What kind of things can I do now that will prepare me for Ranger school?

  • I do cross country running and we run . A LOT. probably 8 miles a day. And the place we run has lots of steep hills. anyway, my dad was in the USMC and his dad was a WWII vet. I wanted to follow in their footsteps and enlist in the army. but I don't want to be a common infantryman, but I want to be in a elite fighting force like the rangers or SF. so how tough (physically) is ranger school? the military is my motivation for everything, and I've always wanted to wear the ranger tab... i will do whatever it takes to qualify. if i have to take a course more than once, i will. im a highschool sophmore right now and may enlist in the army using the split training program (the one where i can join as a junior in highschool. also how hard is basic training?) also i was thinking of doing army infantry first, just to get used to the army...

  • Answer:

When you are running cross country and people are cheering you on does that help? Now imagine people booing you, then imagine people activtly trying to make you fail, imagine them depriving you of sleep food and water, they will give you no emotional support, call you weak when you fail and only encourage you if you quit. That is the least of it.............. how does that sound?

Backpacking in combat boots. It's called Ruck Marching in the Army. Same general idea. Don't overdo your training to the point you get yourself a bum knee and you can't even enlist, though!

Why worry about Ranger School, you may or may not ever get a chance to attend, some years after you enlist. Its not like you even have a chance at ranger school anytime soon after you enlist. And it is not like, just because you want to go, all you have to do is ask. Worry about even being able to enlist and pass Basic training

I dont think theres really much you can do to prepare for ranger training, mostly its more mind over matter but ive known people to break bones and not even know it during the training so the physical pain is going to be easily the worst you have ever faced. You will ruck so much the ruck will give you bedsores, and you wont be able to feel your feet. Your going to be really sleep deprived but your still going to need to keep your wits about you because landnav can be a pain and its easy to get thrown off track. Your going to be miserable, thats about it.

why dont you try to get in the Ranger Regiment? going to Ranger School does not make you a Ranger, it makes you ranger qualified, yes you get the tab but you dont deploy with other rangers. get option 40 in your contract and that will get you in RASP (ranger assessment selection program) and get you the ranger scroll, this will make you a ranger, you will be in the 75 ranger regiment and deploy with other rangers. after that eventually they will send you to ranger school. its good that you run, but make sure to get those push ups and sit ups in! dont give up Answer to your Question: yes, if you pass RASP you will deploy with other rangers. Rangers deploy for 4-6 months, but usually deploy more often. you will be stationed in either Georgia or Washington.

I would finish high school, keep in good shape and go to college for two years , still keep in good shape and then ask to attend Officer Candidate School (OCS) Being an officer in today's army will be a great challenge for you. Best of luck to you.
