How can I get out of a lease for an apartment?

I am trying to get out of my apartment lease so i can contract to ROTC and go to another school.... how?

  • Here is my dilemma. I went to a school with ROTC and then i ran out of money for schooling and now i am in my 3rd year of school and i am trying to contract with an ROTC program next semester and get on scholarship.. which everything is pretty well lined up for me. I just need to get out of my Apartment lease and there is no way, unless its for military. Can i have my ROTC commander write a letter stating I am contracting to ROTC and "it would be grateful if you let go of the lease" type of thing? Because i feel like this doesnt fall under the actual "getting stationed in another state or getting deployed" breaking the lease terms. Thanks for the help!

  • Answer:

If you had an enlistment contract or an ROTC contract in your hands you could get out of the lease. Since you do not have one you do not qualify for the relief act. In addition, how are you contracting next semester? If I remember correctly, cadets are contracted in the fall because LDAC is in the summer. You need to have your MS3 year complete, unless things have changed, in order to go to LDAC. Are they going to compress your training? Are you prior service?

A lease is a contract that you've agreed to, and you can't get out of it with a "note asking pretty please".
