To the Vietnam Vets: What are your memories of Vietnam?

  • I wanted to ask this question, strictly to the members of our armed forces who fought in Vietnam, what memories do you have from your time spent serving there? My fiancee's father was in Vietnam, but unfortunately he died shortly after I met my fiancee', and I was never really able to talk to him about his experiences in Vietnam. I've always been interested in the history of the Vietnam War, although we lost the war, it was an important chapter in the 20th century, and is a subject that should never be forgotten. So to all of you Vietnam Vets out there, what are your memories of Vietnam and how did your time there affect you after you returned home from the war?

    for your information we(the military) did not loose the war.the liberal politicians lost it with the help of the liberal media.john kerry and other liberal politicians were like rats on a dead body constantly demeaning the troops and dissing the war.jane(hanoi jane) fonda and other lib twits helped.I see this today with obama and afghanistan again screwing our troops and loosing AGAIN! macv-sog forever...

I am the daughter of a vietnam vet and I have to warn you don't expect too many people to answer your question. You are asking them to recount stuff most of them would rather not talk about.

If you are writing a school paper, you would get better answers by going down to a VA hospital or a VFW club and asking in person

I think you will find that not very many of the veterans of that war like or want to talk about it. It was a very hard time in our country and they were not treated well, even when they came home. Also, the things they saw there haunt many of them still.

I met some guy at the gym that was in vietnam he said all he remembered was that he was in a hole for hours and hours and when he shot his gun he didn't even know where the enemy was he thought he was shooting at nothing and he expected to die the whole time but he didn't know when
