What college do I pick?

I don't know what to pick: Coast Guard or college?

• I'm 17 years old and I just got out of High School. I am attending a Community College as I really don't have the grades or some of the money to go to a university. I know that my life goal is to help as many people as possible while helping out in the environment also. I want to serve my country but I don't want to go far. I want to travel but don't have money. I want to become a better person. The Coast Guard seems to offer those things to me. In college I would be studying Environmental Science or Fire Science and I feel the Coast Guard can help me with that. The biggest problem is going away. I want to move out but I know I will miss my family-as I am sure most people serving ou country do. I just don't know what to pick anymore. I feel the Coast Guard is for me but I want to go to school also. I don't know if I would be enlisted my whole life but I know I would be honored to serve my country this way. I don't want to go out to the Marines or any of that because killing people to protect people just isn't my thing. I do not want to go into the Reserves either. I know that whichever choice I make I will NOT regret but I.m just having a hard time picking what is best for me. HELP! P.S. I can always go back to college once I'm done with the Coast Guard

  College. There are so many more opportunities for you in the Coast Guard and any other branch of the military. You will be much more satisfied you put in the work to get a degree. You say that you can go back to school after you finish with the Coast Guard, but that seldom happens to people when they choose that. If I were you I would go ahead and finish school. It is well worth it to wait 4 or 5 years and then enlist. Also, people who have chosen to enlist before they finish school will also tell you that it is well worth it to get your degree. Well worth it.
