Did the army base in Schwabisch Gmund close?

Can an army infantry soldier go home monday through friday and be on base for the weekend?

  • My ex told me he was an Army Infantry Ranger. that's all i knew. and he worked monday - friday off base then was on base once a month for evaluations. Would he be an Army Ranger or Army Reserve? I'm sooo confused!! HELP! thx!

    He would be what we affectionately call a "weekend warrior"... He has a civilian job most of the time, but once a month goes to drill on the weekends. I don't know what his job would be...it could be any and all. He could be a Ranger or he could be a Water Treatment Specialist...no way to know just by the information you provided. And anyone getting "special" treatment usually is in trouble and has a lot of details and latrine duty...the ones who brag most about being "special forces" are NOT Special Forces. US Army Special Forces wear a green beret...does he wear a green beret? If not, he's not a SF guy. And if his job is combat oriented, it would most likely mean he's in the Army National Guard.

special forces definitely does not mean special treatment!!! He is either a reservist, or a liar.

The Rangers and the Special Forces are elite squads in the Army. It sounds by what you've written that your friend was a Reservist. A Reservist has any job but would have had to been full time at some time to be a Ranger or Special Forces. If he belonged to either of these elite forces he would wear a patch on his sleeve saying which one he belonged to. Special Forces does not mean special treatment! No one that is true military gets special treatment.

If your Ex was even in the military, it sounds like he was a Reservist. But more importantly, if you have related what he told you correctly, it really sounds like he is full of shite and was in no way even in the military, Reserve or Active.

he is at best a Reservist or in the national Guard. that means M-F he has a CIVILIAN job and one w/e a month and 2 weeks a year he drills. he does not get ;spacial treatment' for being in SF. in fact it is doubtful he is in SF at all.
