How do I stay in the United States Air Force?

  • I went in Open General and I graduated BMT on October 15th, 2010. My job given to me was Aerospace Medical Technician (AFSC 4N031). I wasn going to go open general but my recruiter said I was going to get kicked out of DEP (Delayed Entry Program) because I was in it for 10 months if I didn't take the open general as my job selection. I have been in Tech school since October 18th 2010 and I have successfully completed Block 1 of my course and am certified to give CPR and use an AED. However EMT was tough for me and I did not pass the course. I paid an outsider a good chunk of change and had several instructors try and help me pass, but still I was unsuccessful. Now, I am waiting to be discharged as a 2C which will not let me become active military because of this test. It will be very hard to go reserve or guard as well. My question is, how can I go about trying to stay in the military and get a different job?

    There is no way. Get out and join the Army. Do not take a medical job since it is not your cup of tea. Try mechanic or something like that so that you can get a job when you get out (Most Army jobs suck and do not have a chance at an outside job, like gunner, or tank operator, or infantry--who is going to hire you when you get out to drive a tank or be in a private infantry?)

I would think you could talk to a career counsler about it.

And do exactly what in the military ? EMT cerification is a fairly easy course, especially when compared to most other AFSC's So the chances are, if you could not pass it, you will not be able to pass another Tech School. Your choice really, is to try and get a waiver toi enlist in the Army or Marine Corps.
