How long does it regularly take for one to obtain a bachelor's degree while enlisted into the active service?
-
Hello, Yahoo! Answers community. I'm enlisting into the active duty US Army, and I was wondering how long does it usually take for one to obtain a bachelor's degree; if they attend college as soon as they possibly can with the help of the military tuition assistance. How long must one be enlisted in the Army in order to be able to attend college with the help of military tuition assistance? How long would it take to obtain their bachelor's degree while enlisted in the Army? Does this vary between regular, "brick and mortar" schools and online schools? Will online schools be the best option for one in the Army? Is the American Military University a reliable, trusted, good school for those in the military? Thank you for those who have taken the time to read and process my questions and to develop their own answers. I would also like to thank the various servicemen and women of all branches of the military, reserve and active, past and present for serving their country.

Depends on your MOS and deployment schedule 2. If your in a support MOS, then from 6 to 10 years If your in combat arms, then from 8 to 12 years 3. Your basically looking at taking one class per semester, may two if your lucky Two class = 18 semester hours per year - 7 years to earn a degree 4. No matter what anyone trys to tell you, online colleges do NOT carry the same prestige or weight that real university degrees carry

If you are very lucky with your duty assignment and MOS you might do it in 8 years.

Speak with a recruiter for accurate answers. If you take a class a trimester while enlisted, you can reduce your university career by a year or more. When in University, you might get credit for 'life experience,' and you can also 'challenge' classes; some basic curriculum offer an option where you can pay for the class, take the final exam, and get credit while never entering the class. when shopping for a university, make sure you find one that will accept your transfer credits. A typical enlistment is four-five years before you can use your GI bill benefits. A bachelors degree can be earned in 3 very hard years, or easily in 4-5 years, depending on your academic course.
