Should I join the canadian army reserves as a backup plan?
-
I am going through a little bit of a dilemma right now. I am currently an RN student and im going into my second year. I have a pharmacology math test next year and I have to get perfect on it or else im out of the RN program. heres the thing....i have always sucked at math. I was struggling so bad with practice questions during my first year with the pharmacology math but i was too embarrassed to tell my teachers or my fellow classmates. I was thinking about joining the canadian reserves as a backup plan just in case a fail this test. Does anyone think is this a good idea? oh and I do have an idea of what its like in the canadian army..i had a cousin who was also in the RN program join the reserves and she told me about what the basic training was like and what the overall army life was like. She told me it was very stressful but i dont care that it stressful. i just want to do something with my life you know...i dont care if i have to kill people. I just dont want to be a bum if I fail this pharmacology test :( So again...should i join the canadian reserves as a backup plan for my future?

Answer:
"The CF Reserve is NOT a full time job. No body makes a living as a Reserve member. It is a part time job." Incorrect, If your on a Class B or C contract that is essentially a full-time job and many have made a living off of that. As for the original question, I have not heard of a test where you need to get every single question right as that seems a little far-fetched. I wouldn't join the Army as a "back-up" plan per say because it is a lifestyle and can be a career, if you join for the wrong reasons and absolutely hate it then you would have wasted X amount of time and resources for something that didn't work out.

The CF Reserve is NOT a full time job. No body makes a living as a Reserve member. It is a part time job. You need a full time job to support yourself. You DO get paid, but only a small number of hours per month. Not a living wage, at all. I`ve NEVER heard of a test of ANY kind that requires a 100 percent mark , or you are OUT of the program..............That is not real world education in Canada, for sure. CF Reserve service is `stress full `. Not really ......... How about doing CPR on a human being, not a rescue dummy. Or making life and death decisions in a snap. Or remembering exactly WHAT drug that DR said to give the patient, and how much of it ........ You need to examine your self and your ability to make decisions for your future career. Jim B Toronto.
