How do I get an interview/job?

I went AWOL from the Military how do I get out?

  • Ok so I went AWOL from the Army. I signed up back in November of 2011 and I am now in the 5th week of training. The first week of white phase.. I honestly never wanted to join the Army to begin with but I was looking for a way to make my family happy (not thinking of a way to make my self happy aka school). The Army is not for me none what so ever in any kind of way shape form or fashion. I tried to stick it out the best I could. I wanted to go to my commander and tell him I wanted out but I was afraid of them telling me I'd be there way longer then I would be if I just stayed in basic. So basically I kept getting this feeling like I need to leave.. 2 weeks of thinking about leaving I finally just got up during personal time 2 hours before weapons count at 21:45 and left. 3 hours later they had gotten in contact with damn near everyone I know. Unfortunately I did not have a phone. So I walked from Ft. Jackson to the gray hound station in the woods and via rail road track. To avoid getting found. When I finally got in contact with my family to tell them how much of a dumb azz I am. They told me the commander called them and said I needed to get back ASAP. Well by that time I was damn near home. So I called the commander when I got back. He said I have 3 days to get back and there will be some minor consequences if I wait after 30 days it will get way more serious cause then I would be considered a deserter. I know if I get a dishonorable discharge my life is screwed if I go to prison im screwed. None of which I want.. The commander said If I got back as quickly as possible that he would start the paper work to get me out. However I feel like its more of a bluff to just get me to come back. I've only been gone now 2 days. I cant leave till the first to go back cause that's when I get paid. Which is tomorrow. I want to get out its not for me none what so ever. I am trying to figure out a way to get out with out having to go back. If possible a combination of not going back and not getting a D/D.. I am going tomorrow to speak with a Chaplin at a local Military post. But I just don't see how that will help me. I really don't want to have to travel half way back across the country just to sit there waiting to get discharged from the army. On top of that I'm afraid there just bluffing with me on the it wont be so bad if I get back ASAP.. Additional information. Sense I been in Basic the following has happened.. .I did not go threw the gas chamber which resulted in a counseling statement. .I was accused of being involed with a blanked party which resulted in counseling statement and a article 15 .The AWAL of course. Please help I need honest useful information. All I want to do is get out go to school and do what I originally wanted to do. To make my self happy...Thanks for the replies. P.S I'm not Army Active I'm ARNG

Okay, I did BCT back in 2010JUL-2010SEP at Ft. Jackson myself. What unit are you in? You must go back so that they can out process you at 120th where you did reception and in-processing. It shouldn't take no more than 4 days to get out.

go back to your unit/company and tell your Drill Sergeant, or Senior Drill Sergeant that you want out, and they will get you out ASAP, and seeing that you went "awol' from 5 weeks of camp, they will gladly speed up the discharge paperwork, and it will be over with before you know it

Go back, go to your commanders office and Tebow on his desk and let God handle the rest.

Would you mind not wasting more of the taxpayers money? AS they said, push it to 30 days & it becomes criminal.

It is not a trick. At this point, the Military does NOT WANT you in their military. Just go back and they will process you out as quickly and cleanly as they can. You are still in boot camp so really you've not ever served. They will just boot you out with a "failure to adapt" and send you back to civvie life. You family is right though and I am not trying to be be mean, just brutally honest... you ARE a dumbazz. Your commander knows this too, you have already given them a track record of screw ups with your counselling statements and Article 15. The reason why you really are a dumbazz is because in all likelihood they would have just kicked you out anyway without your resorting to going AWOL and tempting Desertion (punishable by DEATH in time of war). Go back. Grow a pair and be a MAN. Take your punishment Get over it and go on with your life.

Go back and have him sign you out, so you dont get a DD. they cant force you to stay if you go back, the army is not prison, they cant do that to you...they may try and convince you, but they cant hold you captive lol. plus getting signed out is considered honorable discharge.
