They are the British Military's Counter Terrorist Unit. Known as the father of special forces. They have the capability of performing the roles SEALs and Green Berets and vice versa. SEALs have a CT unit as well. The Army has Delta which would be the sister unit to the SAS. DEVGRU would be the same to SBS.

Probably the thing that makes them different to other unconventional warfare troops and elite forces is their history. They weren't really well known until the Iranian embassy siege but they have been about and have been gaining experience since WW2.
