Will having a MO W-2 addressed to an IA address raise a red flag if I don't file in Iowa?
-
Here's the deal.. I haven't lived in Iowa this year. I graduated from my university in MO where I had a job for a few months this year, only making $400 there. They addressed my W-2 to my last "permanent address", which was my parent's house in Iowa. If they put my address on my W-2 as an Iowa address, and I'm not filing an Iowa return, am I going to get flagged for an audit? Come to think of it, even if that were the case I guess I wouldn't be eligible for Iowa tax anyway since I only made $400 on that W-2.

Answer:
No. MO doesn't care about IA and vice versa. MO wants their taxes for the time that you worked there. They don't care that you live in IA now.
