What is your favorite ski resort in Ontario and why?

Are you to be paid for mandatory training sessions in ontario to operate ski lift equipment at a ski resort?

  • I work at a ski resort for 2 years and I have never been paid for the training sessions you must attend before you can actually start to work. These are about safety and the what to do when equipment malfunctions and also to ensure the safety of passengers on the lifts and know what to do in emergencies etc.. The sessions are about 1 and 1/2 days and I have never been paid,. approximately 12 hours. Under Ontario labour laws does anyone know if I should have been paid for these hours? Thank you

  • Answer:

Valerie. I know if you were hired without having known or this being a requirement in order to get the job. In the US then yes they are required to pay you for your time and also pay for the traing. In Canada I'm not sure but if they hired you without such traing then I would say yes. But again that's here in US. Hope it's true in Canada as well. Hope so. Hope it helps as well. Ciao.
