What is the entire process of getting a Driver's License in California?

If my drivers license is suspended for california how would i go about getting a license for texas?

  • I just relocated to texas from california. I've had one speeding ticket. And I haven't paid it. Common sence I have to pay it... So I called the collection company and set up a payment plan. Within 3 months ill have it paid off... $865! Ended up forgetting about the ticket...and I've never had one before so I had no idea they'dsuspend my license, I thought they only suspended people's licenses that have multiple tickets. But its suspended now. And the suspension won't be takin off until my ticket is paid in full. Then reissue fee's... They said because its my first ticket I don't have to go to court. I'd just have to pay the ticket and the reissue fee. Now that's california.... I just relocated to texas....! And I wanted to know after paying the ticket...and reissue fee. Would I still be able to get a license for texas right away? What steps would I have to take? And would I have to take a drivers test for california before they reissue my licens back to me? If so...would there be any way I can do it here in texas? Without going all the way back to california :/

  • Answer:

When a license is suspended or revoked in one state, no other state will issue a license. They check the national data base. You wil need to pay the California ticket and reissue fee to get your name off the data base, and then you will be eligible for licensure in Texas.
