A question concerning Civil and Private Law?

Question concerning Business Law?

  • The United States has the strictest product liability laws in the world today. Why do you think many other countries, particularly developing countries, are more lax with respect to holding manufacturers liable for product defects?

  • Answer:

Because poorly designed or manufactured products (which occasionally hurt people) are better than not having any products at all. If your per-capita income is $500 per year, most people can't afford the products with the "safety premium" in the pricing. For instance, why buy expensive medicines that actually work, but cost is very high, when you can buy colored mud patties for nearly nothing and they make the same claims? Just a thought.
